This past week, I started my summer internship! As the history geek I am, I'm interning at a historical site working along with the director of the education department! I'm super excited for this opportunity to learn more about my future field. 

However, I decided to write a blog post on how to dress business casual for work while still embracing your personal style! So below are a few little tips on how to do that!

1) Dress COMFORTABLY!

I cannot stress this enough, but dressing comfy is a LIFE SAVER when you're on your feet the whole day. On my first day, I wore a super cute Lilly Pulitzer skort (a similar one tagged). Skorts are always my go to because I don't ever have to worry about showing anything off that I don't want to (if you know what I mean...) I also wore a super comfy blouse from Ann Taylor (a similar one tagged). Finally, I wore tan Tory Burch flats. I was really debating on wearing heels but with all of the walking I had to do today, I decided to wear flats and I don't regret it!

2) Always add a Pop of Color!

In my experience, a pop of color in my outfit makes me more productive because I feel happier. Since I feel amazing in my outfit, I tend to get more things done because I'm motivated! Also, wearing colors in my outfits make other people smile! It never hurts to make someones day a little brighter!

3) Get a Big Tote!

Everywhere I go, I always bring my big totes! I own a few so I always switch it out depending on my mood and outfit. Pictured below, I am carrying around my "sand color" Kate Spade tote (a similar one tagged)! The inside is super roomie so you can store everything! Normally I bring my portfolio, planner, a water, wallet and my phone; yet I still have room to spare! Plus, the color goes with everything so I 110% recommend.

4) Embrace your Natural Beauty

For those of you who know me, you know I am not one to wear a lot of makeup. I always use great skincare products to keep my skin looking fresh and clean! For my makeup all I wear is: foundation, highlighter, contour, a bit of setting powder, eyeshadow and mascara. I am not a big believer in eyeliner at all!  I love my eyes, so I want to show them off naturally! So, I would always stay away from wearing too much makeup and embrace your natural beauty!

Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't been active on my blog lately. I have been so busy unpacking and going to appointments because I am home from my SOPHOMORE YEAR OF COLLEGE!

My sophomore year was an exciting time, especially academically. I have had the best GPA yet and I have really started to think about my future career! However, school takes a toll on everyone and this summer will be a well deserved break. Especially because I will be preparing for new experiences...

This summer, I will be actively participating in my FIRST INTERNSHIP! I will be interning at a local historical site as the intern to the head of the Department of Education (yes, long title, I know). But, the history geek in me is freaking out! Working in a museum education setting is something I am considering highly for my long-term career so the fact that I will be able to experience it now is amazing for me! I'm excited to finally have a job that will allow me to show off my preppy and classy fashion everyday! This only means, shopping, shopping and MORE shopping!

Next, this summer, I am looking forward to PREPARING TO GO TO GERMANY for 4 months! As I wrote in one of my previous posts, I studied abroad for a month in Montpellier, France. So, I am not foreign to the whole "study abroad" experience. However, I have never been away from home for 4 months, especially with it being out of the country! My parents and my boyfriend are planning on visiting me sometime while I am there, but it will definitely be an adjustment. Throughout the summer, I will be sure to make more blog posts on my preparations!

That's all that is going on in my life right now, but I'm looking forward to an exciting summer 2018!

It's nearing the end of April, which means that it's GRADUATION SEASON! If you're anything like me, picking out my graduation dress was one of the highlights of the year! So, I'm going to share a few pointers below on how to pick out the perfect dress to make your day extra special!

1) Make it practical!

As I was shopping for my graduation dress, I wanted to make sure it was amazing since it was symbolizing a special moment in my life. However, if I was going to be spending a lot of money on it, I wanted to make sure I would be able to wear it again for other occasions! I wore a white lace Lilly Pulitzer dress to my 2016 high school graduation (Similar). I love it because I still wear it to special occasions a lot today! There's nothing like a simple white dress to make a statement!

2) Don't order online, go try it on!

I've made the mistake so many times before...a dress may look beautiful online, but when it comes in the mail, it doesn't fit right at all! I rarely buy clothes online because I want to make sure it fits my body correctly. If you don't love how you look when you're wearing something, how are you suppose to ROCK your special day?!

3) BE YOU!

I can't stress this enough, but don't buy a certain style dress because everyone else is wearing it. Graduating, whether it's high school or college, symbolizes the coming of a new time in your life. You don't want to be stuck in the past copying other people's dress preferences. Graduating is YOUR TIME and YOUR ACCOMPLISHMENT! Embrace your own style so you will be confident walking on that stage!!

Happy Earth Day!

Yesterday, I went to the National Zoo in Washington D.C. to celebrate Earth Day weekend, and it turned into a day I would never forget. 

This was the first time ever that I actually went out in the world and did something specifically for Earth Day. I usually just live it like any regular day but this time I decided to take it into my own hands and do something fun!

My best friend and I went to the zoo and they were hosting a bunch of Earth Day festivities. For example, they had guests write on a chalk board how they would celebrate "Earth Optimism"! There were people in booths teaching children how to plant their own flowers and games about recycling. 

My favorite part about the zoo was of course going to see the animals. It was a gorgeous day in the District so we got to the zoo super early to beat all the lines! We had the opportunity to see the pandas, get close to the elephants and even see the new baby gorilla, Moke! 

After the zoo, my friend and I went to the National Mall and road bikes from the Capital to the Washington  Monument! This was probably my favorite part of my day because I really got to experience how beautiful our Nation's Capital is. 

Overall, celebrating Earth Day was a day I would never forget. It really made me realize how amazing the Earth is and we need to change things before it gets worse. I want to be able to travel the world and experience everything this planet has to offer, from the mountains to the sea. However, nothing will ever fix it's self. So I'm going to leave off my blog post with one of my favorite childhood quotes...
